About
Ellen Originally
from Temple, Midlothian, Ellen was taught to play the harp by
the renowned musician and teacher Alison Kinnaird MBE. A multi-instrumentalist,
she plays the fiddle and flute and is also available to perform
as part of a harp/flute or harp/fiddle duo. Now based in Glasgow,
her playing has taken her throughout Scotland to such venues as
Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, the Museum of Scotland, the
Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace where she has performed
for Royalty. She has played at many popular wedding venues, including
Gleneagles Hotel, Dalhousie Castle, Dryburgh Abbey, Glenskirlie
Castle and Òran Mór. She is currently the harper
in residence on the Royal Scotsman train. Ellen has many years
of experience performing at wedding ceremonies, civil ceremonies,
receptions and private functions. Her musical repertoire is extensive
and varied, based on Scottish and Irish traditional styles combined
with classical and contemporary pieces. Her sympathetic style
is ideal for weddings, whether during the ceremony or for the
reception afterwards, and she is happy to suggest or advise on
suitable music for the occasion. |
